Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES -2016,
Saveetha School of Law organized a two day Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES 
2016, the first of its kind in any law schools in India, on 18th and 19th February, 2016. The 
purpose of FRAMES was to encourage the students to have an insight into the emerging socio-legal issues by dispelling misconceptions, myths and prejudices surrounding social issues and 

empower them to have broader perspectives through the use of audio-visual medium. It also 
provided a platform to showcase the students’ talents in photography, documentary and short-
film making on such issues. Five broad themes were chosen this year for FRAMES 2016 namely Marginalized sections of the society, Inequality, Disability, Human Rights and Day-to-day social FRAMES 2016 included short-film and Documentary Competition, Photography Contest, Drawing, Face Painting and Junk Art Competition and Exhibition for Students.  The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R. Anita Rao, Director, Saveetha School of Law on 18th February, 2016 and she officially declared open the photography, painting and junk art exhibition at Saveetha School of Law. Eight short films and two documentaries directed by our students on issues like transgender, alcoholism, women empowerment, illiteracy, importance of agriculture, Right to Education to name a few were screened and were reviewed by other students. The students opined that the documentaries and short films have helped them understand better, the day to day issues of the society by enabling them to connect law with grey areas so as to address The valedictory function was held on Friday, 19th February, 2016 in M.M. Convention. Mr. Nanjil Vijayan, Vijay TV actor was the Chief Guest and Mr. Balaji, Cine Actor was the Guest of Honour. The students performed the finale performance of the Best Traditional Folk dance featuring various Tamil folk dances. Awards for the Best Short-Film, Best Documentary, Winner of Photography, Junk Art, Painting competitions were distributed by the Chief Guests. Thus, FRAMES 2016 provided a forum for communication, interaction and discussion between students on various socio-legal issues.
