Global Mobile App Summit Awards 2015 (GMASA 2015)

Chennai: Two days Global Mobile App Summit Awards 2015 (GMASA 2015) was held
at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. Engineering Students of TN have shown their great knowledge
and ideas on developing the applications.Third Year CSE C section student of Saveetha school of engineering Mr. Sankaran.S has
developed Windows mobile App titled “Find My Car” it uses GPS location services to find the car
in the parking location. It has good download rates (300+) and viewed by more than 24 countries
around the globe.“Student Performer Award “has been awarded to “Find My Car” on
the award ceremony.by Mr. Prem Kumar, Executive Vice Chairman & Managing Director, HCL.

 -“Light the Lamp for Life”

“PLACEMENT DAY 2015”  of Saveetha Engineering College and Saveetha School of engineering was  held at  Nalli Arangam in Saveetha Engineering College Campus. 438 offer letters have been distributed  to students of 2015 batch.

Mr.S.Sankaranarayanan , Director, IBM India Ltd. was the chief guest.

Mr.K.R.S.R.Krishna ,Vice President,Petrofac Ltd  and  Mr.Sanjivi Syam Sundar, Associate Director, Virtusa Ltd have been the guests of honor.

Dr.N.M.Veeriyan, Founder President and Chancellor of Saveetha University presided over the function.

Nearly 91 percentage of eligible students have been placed in blue chip companies like  IGATE,IBM,Polaris,Petrofac,Wipro,CSC, Hexaware,Hp, Maestro Steel and 26 more companies have been the recruiters of Saveetha Engineering College in the year 2015.

Prof A.Gandhi,Head-Training and placement welcomed the gathering and unvieled the theme activity of “Light the Lamp for Life”( Vaazhvil ozhi yettruvom). At the end of the exercise the entire hall was glittering with candle light in every bodys hand symbolically indicating the need for spreading the light of wisdom.

 All the speakers emphasised the need of continous learning for sustained growth in their career in the competitive environment.

SAVEETHA SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING PROJECT EXPO’15

Chennai: 11th April, Saveetha School of Engineering - Saveetha University conducted a wonderful Engineering  Project Expo’15. The mega event was inaugurated by Dr.N.M .Veeraiyan,
Chancellor of Saveetha University and it was open to public. The Chief Guest
Dr.V.Balasubramanian, Vice President of Simpson & Co. Entry was totally free for the
visitors and free Transport was arranged from most locations in Chennai.
More than 250 projects prepared by right from First year to final year students from various
Engineering departments were displayed.  Dr.V.Balasubramanian, presided over the function
and applauded the effort taken by Saveetha School of Engineering students for their
wonderful effort. He had also commented on the project expo that “No such event was
conducted in this way before anywhere in India and It will be very useful for school children
and Public”. There were live demonstrations on exciting models and latest Technologies.

Ms. Ramya Deepak and Director of Saveetha School of Engineering felicitated the event and
pointed out that “The project preparations are giving a great platform to her students to bring
out their talents to get hands on experience.

Expo’15 showcases the inherent talents of the Saveetha School of Engineering
students presented their projects on varies topics such as 
Robotics, Sensors and Devices, Animations, Mobile Apps, Renewable Energy Systems, Near
Field Communication and 3D Printing & Scanning. Solar Powered Car, Chassis of Different
Vehicles, Geological Rocks and Ore Minerals and Solar Power Stand Alone Vehicle using
Department of Computer Science demonstrated more than 100 different Mobile Apps and
Real demo of mobile hacking. Out of which 50 applications were uploaded in google store
and Windows store. Apps such as ‘Find My Car’,’I am Unfair’ and ‘Vanakkam Chennai’
were downloaded and viewed by app users of 70 different countries’.
Engineering Project Expo’15 comprised of NASA Lunabotic Robot which was specially
fabricated for NASA Lunabotic Competition 2013 held at NASA and grabbed the attention of
the audience enormously. Many students were excited to see Robot Controlled Artificial
Finger that can be used by people who lost their fingers. Unbelievably it synchronises with
the real finger. There were also War Robot, Race Robot, Line follower Robot, Edge Avoiding
Robot, Pick & Place Robot, Soccer Robots and etc. were displayed.
Solar Powered car was on display. It works on non-conventional way using sun light and it is
completely emission free. It reduces the chances of global warming. Many students from
various schools and colleges appreciated the effort taken by Saveetha School of Engineering
Interactive and logical thinking games were conducted for the visitors to refresh their minds
and lot of refreshment stalls put up for the visitors. 25 different stalls were put up by students
to enhance their entrepreneur skills. 

Overall 1700 students from various schools and colleges from in and around Chennai had
visited the Expo’15 and got benefited by the wonderful projects displayed. Students from the
Schools such as Chennai Public School, St.Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School,
St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School, ABS Vidya Mandhir Matriculation School, Vetri Vikas
Matriculation Higher Secondary School – Salem and etc. visited the Expo’15.
Students from various schools and colleges witnessed the excellent Expo’15 and gave very
good feedback. A student from Chennai Public school remarked that “The projects displayed
here are very helpful in developing innovative ideas. It gives me hands on experience
knowing about working models of various engineering designs and applications”.
